Old wooden timbers and a pile of lumber and dirt stacked on a driveway in front of a garage door

What junk removal takes in Johnstown

Couches, fridges, packed garages, remodel scraps and the old backyard shed all go on the truck. The list of what stays behind is short, and it's further down the page.

Most headings below are a kind of job, and each job links to its own page. If you'd rather see them all side by side, there's every service on one page. This list is here so anyone in Johnstown and the towns around it can check an item before they text or call, instead of guessing.

Furniture and household junk

Furniture removal covers the dresser and the bunk beds the kids outgrew. Couch removal is for the sectional that barely made it down the stairs when you moved in. Odds and ends from around the house fall under plain junk removal.

A load can be as mixed as you like. A wobbly chair, a few boxes of paperbacks and the bookcase they came off can all go on the same truck. Pieces in the upstairs spare room, the basement or out on a garage shelf count just the same.

  • Dressers, tables and chairs
  • Sofas, sectionals and recliners
  • Bookcases and desks
  • Bed frames and headboards
  • Boxes and bags of loose household junk

Appliances, mattresses and heavy items

Appliance removal and disposal takes the washer that quit mid-cycle and the stove from the old kitchen. The basement fridge has its own page, refrigerator and freezer removal, and so does the tank in the utility closet, water heater removal. Mattress removal and disposal handles the mattress and box spring together. Then come the heavy ones, hot tub removal for the old spa out back and piano removal for the upright in the living room.

These are the jobs that sit for months, because nobody wants to be the one lifting. A washer at the bottom of the basement stairs or a hot tub behind a narrow side gate is just part of the work, and Liberty Junk Removal does the carrying. A piano is the strangest thing they've hauled.

  • Refrigerators and freezers
  • Washers and dryers
  • Stoves and dishwashers
  • Mattresses and box springs
  • Hot tubs and pianos

Electronics

A TV that quit, the monitor from an old desktop, a printer that jams on every page and a shoebox of chargers are what electronic waste removal and disposal is for. If the only thing going is a television, TV removal has its own page. Electronics leave as e-waste. They can come off a closet shelf or out of a garage corner and ride along with the furniture on the same pickup.

  • Televisions and monitors
  • Computers and printers
  • Stereos and speakers
  • Boxes of cables and chargers

Home cleanouts

When a whole space has to be emptied, it's a cleanout. House and garage cleanouts clear out the garage, or the house itself. An estate cleanout empties a home after a loss in the family. A basement cleanout brings everything up the stairs, and a storage unit cleanout empties the unit you've been paying on for years. A hoarder cleanout goes room by room. The owner once did an emergency hoarder cleanout on a day off, so a customer's house could be entered before an inspection the next day.

A cleanout can be one closet or every room in the house. Everything inside can go except the few things on the won't-take list further down. Set aside what you're keeping and leave everything else for loading.

  • Garage shelves and old workbenches
  • Basement boxes and stored furniture
  • Closets full of clothes and linens
  • Storage unit contents
  • Whole rooms of belongings

Rental, foreclosure and business cleanouts

When the last tenant leaves half the apartment behind, an eviction and rental property cleanout clears it so the unit can be turned over. The same service covers a foreclosure cleanout. For a business, commercial junk removal takes the old desks, the file cabinets and the clutter from the stockroom, office cleanouts included. Invoices are available for bigger companies.

  • Left-behind furniture and belongings
  • Abandoned appliances
  • Desks, cubicle panels and file cabinets
  • Office chairs and break room furniture
  • Stockroom and back-lot clutter

Construction, remodel and yard debris

Project leftovers go on the truck too. Construction debris removal picks up after the crew is gone, and remodel scraps from a gutted room go the same way. Debris removal is for the general pile that doesn't fit a label, and yard debris removal is for branches and bagged leaves stacked by the fence.

Project piles are rarely one material. Scrap lumber, broken drywall and an old cabinet door tend to end up in one heap, sometimes with tree limbs and a few bags of clippings thrown on top. It can all be loaded together, and nothing has to be separated by type before the truck comes.

  • Scrap lumber and drywall
  • Old flooring and cabinets
  • Tree limbs and brush
  • Bagged leaves and yard clippings
  • Mixed piles left after a project

Demolition and structures

Some jobs need taking apart before anything can be hauled. That's light demolition and interior demolition, plus kitchen demolition and bathroom demolition for the rooms getting remodeled. For the yard, there's deck and fence demolition and shed removal. Whatever comes down goes straight onto the truck.

Outside, that can mean rotted deck boards, a leaning run of fence panels or a shed that's falling in on itself. Inside, the cabinets, the vanity and the old tub come out before the new ones go in.

  • Old kitchen cabinets and counters
  • Bathroom vanities and tubs
  • Interior walls and trim
  • Rotted deck boards
  • Fence panels and posts
  • Backyard sheds

Trash, recycling and donations

Some loads are mostly plain trash, and that's fine. Trash removal and disposal handles bags of garbage and the broken stuff nobody wants. Furniture donation pickup is the other side of it, for furniture and household goods someone else can use. Bags of trash and a pile of scrap metal can ride on the same truck, and the metal gets recycled.

Clothes, linens and kitchen stuff count too. A box of towels or a set of dishes with some use left goes to donation along with the furniture, instead of into the landfill pile. If a box is all donation, writing that on the side saves a question on the day.

  • Bags of household trash
  • Scrap metal
  • Usable furniture to donate
  • Gently used household goods
  • Boxes of clothes and linens for donation

What Liberty Junk Removal doesn't take

Gasoline, diesel, and medical or biohazard waste stay behind on every job. Paint can go. Empty cans are preferred, and full cans cost an extra fee. If a gas can is mixed into a pile, pull it out ahead of time so the rest can be loaded.

  • Gasoline
  • Diesel
  • Medical waste
  • Biohazard waste

Ask first

Plenty of things aren't on either list, like a pool table or a gun safe. Text a photo to (970) 634-6969 and ask before you count on it. Nothing is promised until Liberty Junk Removal has seen the photo, and the won't-take list holds no matter what. That same photo is what the quote comes from, and the pricing guide explains how the $125 minimum works.

Where it all ends up

Donation is the first stop. A table or a lamp that someone could still use goes to Habitat for Humanity or a thrift store. Scrap metal gets recycled. Old electronics are sent out as e-waste. What's left after that, the broken and worn-out stuff, is the real trash, and it ends up at the Larimer County landfill.

Questions

Questions people ask.

Do you take TVs and other electronics?
Yes. Old TVs, laptops, printers and speakers can all go, and they're handled as e-waste once they leave.
Does Liberty Junk Removal take paint?
Yes. Empty cans are preferred, and full cans cost an extra fee. Spray paint goes the same way.
What about hazardous waste?
Some of it. Gasoline, diesel and medical or biohazard waste stay behind. Other hazardous items need a question before the job and come with an extra fee, so an unlabeled jug is worth asking about in your text. Propane tanks can go for an extra fee too.
Does everything have to be at the curb?
No, and nobody needs your help loading either. Plenty of people figure they should haul everything to the curb and lend a hand with the lifting. Neither is needed, and the couch can stay in the den until the truck shows up.
What if my item isn't on the list?
Send a picture and ask.
