Liberty Junk Removal does hot tub removal in Johnstown and around Northern Colorado, for the spa that stopped heating or the one standing in the way of a new patio. A hot tub is one wide, heavy shell, and it nearly always sits out back, up on a deck or behind a gate. Getting it from there out to the truck is the real work, and it's theirs.

A seller often wants the tub gone before the listing photos, and a buyer can close on a house and find a dead spa out back nobody planned to keep. For a landlord, the tub is usually one part of getting a rental ready, and the rest of the unit can go as an eviction and rental property cleanout. In any of those cases, send a photo of the tub and whatever is going with it in one text.

If the deck under the tub is coming out after it, book deck and fence demolition too. Liberty Junk Removal is based in Johnstown, in Weld County, and hauls tubs from Wellington down to Northglenn. The towns they cover are all listed, so check for yours.

What goes on the truck

  • Hot tubs and spas
  • Inflatable hot tubs
  • Waterlogged hot tub covers
  • Spa steps and cover lifters
  • Loose cabinet skirting panels
  • Patio furniture near the tub
  • Deck boards around the tub

These are the usual pieces on this kind of job, not the whole list.

From the full list of what goes on the truck: appliances, mattresses and heavy items.

What's included in a hot tub removal job?

The tub, plus everything that has collected around it. Usually that's a foam cover that has soaked up water for years and weighs far more than it should, a set of plastic or wood steps, and sometimes a cover lifter bolted to the cabinet. Inflatable tubs count as well. A hot tub goes out the same way as the other appliances, mattresses and heavy items on the list.

Other things from the patio can come along on the same trip, like skirting panels that fell off the cabinet. It all leaves on a pickup with a 6x12 open trailer or a 7x14 dump trailer, with the Liberty Junk Removal logo on the truck doors.

Where does a hot tub go after it's hauled away?

A tub that still heats, or a set of steps with no cracks, gets a look for donation first, through Habitat for Humanity or a thrift store. Any steel in the load, like a frame under the cabinet or the arms of a cover lifter, is scrap metal and gets recycled.

The rest is usually the bulk of it. A shell with a crack running through it and a cover that's torn and heavy with water are headed for the landfill. So is wood skirting that has dried out and split after years in the sun.

How do you get a hot tub out of a fenced backyard?

It goes out the way you'd walk it, across the yard and through the gate to the truck, so the width of that gate matters. Along with the shot of the tub, send one of the gate and any steps down off the deck. That's how the path gets planned before the day, and it heads off a surprise at a narrow side yard.

The owner replies to your text or call, sets the quote and books the job. You hear from them right up to arrival, and again once the tub is gone and the pad is clear, which helps a property manager who isn't at the rental.

Can the spa chemicals go with the hot tub?

Spa chemicals are an ask-first item. The chlorine and pH balancer that sit next to a lot of tubs are chemicals, and so is filter cleaner. Text a question about them before the job is booked, and expect an extra fee. Hollow steps and the space behind a cabinet panel are common hiding spots for those bottles. Check both before the day and pull out whatever you find, so the jugs aren't sitting in the tub when it gets loaded.

Medical or biohazard waste won't go, and neither will gas or diesel. Show the chemical shelf in the photo, or say in your text which bottles are staying.

How much does it cost to have a hot tub hauled away?

Hot tub removal starts at the $125 minimum. From there the price tracks the truck space the load needs. A full-size spa with its waterlogged cover fills a good share of it, while an inflatable tub folded flat barely takes a corner. Add the patio set and the price climbs with the space it takes.

Carrying the tub out, the drive and the landfill run are covered by that price, and the dump fee is never billed on its own. The quote comes from your photo or an in-person look, and it holds as long as the job isn't bigger than the photo showed. A stack of old deck boards behind the tub, out of the shot, is the kind of thing that adds to it.

How the price works

Text a photo of what needs to go to (970) 634-6969. Liberty Junk Removal looks at how much room it takes on the truck and texts back a quote for the whole job. The quote holds unless the job turns out bigger than the photo showed. No hourly rate. Jobs start at $125. Read the junk removal cost guide.

Questions

Questions about hot tub removal.

Is there a minimum charge to haul away a hot tub?
Yes. The minimum is $125, and that applies to a small inflatable tub too.
Does the hot tub need to be moved to the driveway first?
No. It can stay on the deck or the pad out back, and you won't be asked to help load it.
Can the cover and steps go with the hot tub?
Yes. Both go with the tub, and so does a cover lifter if one is bolted to the side.
How soon can an old hot tub be picked up?
A hot tub pickup is usually the next day. It can be same day when the schedule allows. Hours are 7 AM to 6 PM every day, and you get a one-hour arrival window plus an ETA.
What happens to a hot tub that still works?
Donation comes first for a tub that still works, through Habitat for Humanity or a thrift store, so mention in your text that it heats and holds water.
Is an in-person quote needed for a hot tub in a fenced yard?
No. A photo that shows the tub and the gate is enough to price it. When the way out is hard to judge from a picture, the owner can come by and quote it in person instead.
