The rules differ from town to town.

The truck goes to every one of these towns.

Johnstown

The Town's Spring Clean Up Day gives each household one trip, in a car, SUV, truck or small trailer, and a trailer can hold up to 3 cubic yards. The day does not take hazardous waste, electronics, tires, oil, gas or other non-yard waste, so it suits a load of branches more than a garage full of boxes. The Johnstown page has the rest of the Town's rules.

Loveland

The city's Household Clean-up Program lets residents drop off oversized, bulky items that wouldn't get picked up at the curb. A load can be no bigger than a standard pickup truck load, or 2.7 cubic yards. A bigger cleanout, or one with no pickup to carry it, is a job for junk removal in Loveland.

Longmont

Longmont runs large-item pickups from February through October, on your regular trash day. For the spring branch collection, limbs must be cut to 6 feet or less, and none can be more than 6 inches across. In the fall, leaves must be bagged for the curbside leaf collection, and loose piles are left behind. The Longmont page covers the rest.

Windsor

The town's 2026 Fall Clean-Up Days drop-off could not take mattresses or large furniture. At the Leaf & Branch Drop, leaves and branches have to be kept apart, limbs over four inches across are turned away, and no bags are allowed. A mattress, a couch or a thick limb can go on the truck instead, from Windsor or a town nearby.

Erie

The Town and its vendors hold cleanup events twice a year, where residents can bring electronics, medication, tires, metal items with freon, and mattresses. The Erie page covers a haul from your place instead.

Evans

The city's Fall Community Cleanup is a place to take large household items and debris. It takes refrigerators, freezers, computer towers, keyboards, mice, printers and home electronics, but not computer monitors or TVs. An old TV can still go with a TV removal pickup.

Firestone

Firestone's Clean Up Day is for residents only, and commercial waste is not accepted. It also turns away household chemicals and similar products. At the tree limb drop-off dates, only limbs are taken, each 12 inches across or less, with no stumps or other yard waste. The Firestone page has more.

Frederick

The town's Clean-Up Days come with a landfill voucher for one load, up to one ton, per residence. Seniors 65 and over, and people with disabilities, can get a curbside pickup when they can't get their items to the landfill. At the Tree Limb Drop-Off, limbs can be up to 8 inches across and 10 feet long. The Frederick page has the rest.

Fort Lupton

The city's Clean-Up Days page lists furniture, cabinets, mattresses, bikes, outdoor toys, carpet, doors and lawn equipment as things to bring. Household hazardous waste is not taken. Senior and disabled residents can get a curbside pickup the Thursday before the spring or fall event. See the Fort Lupton page for more.

Severance and the Weld County voucher

For 2026, Severance replaced its curbside collection and drop-off site with a Weld County Landfill voucher. The county voucher covers one truckload, level with the bed rails and up to one ton, or one trailer load up to one ton. A voucher still means loading it yourself and driving it out. The Severance, Milliken and Lochbuie pages have each town's rules.

Broomfield, Northglenn and Lafayette

Broomfield's spring cleanup doesn't take computers, TVs, tires or other electronic waste. Northglenn holds Dumpster Days, a drop-off for clearing out the garage and old furniture, and runs a Special Pickup program for up to 10 bulky items that won't fit in the cart. Lafayette's program lists five bulky items collected at an event every fall, plus one bulky item picked up curbside each quarter, set up through the city's hauler.

Leaf and branch season

In Johnstown, leaves and yard clippings go in bags, tied shut, for trash pickup. A fall of leaves or a pile of limbs too big for the bags is a yard debris removal job.

When a haul fits better

A clean-up day is a good deal when the pile fits in your own vehicle and nothing in it gets turned away. A haul fits better when the load is too big for one trip, when it's heavy, or when you can't make the date. Nothing has to be at the curb, and nobody has to help load.

Gasoline, diesel and medical or biohazard waste stay behind on a haul. Liberty Junk Removal takes paint too, with a fee for full cans. Other hazardous items cost an extra fee, so ask before the job.

  • Mattresses and furniture a drop-off turns away
  • A fridge, a water heater or a hot tub

The town sets it, so check with the town before you load up.
What do clean-up days usually turn away?
Most turn away household hazardous waste. Some also turn away electronics, tires, mattresses or large furniture, and each town's section above says what its event won't take.
Can the pile be hauled instead?
Yes. Text a photo of the pile to (970) 634-6969 for a price. Jobs start at $125, and nothing has to be loaded into your own car or put at the curb.
