Liberty Junk Removal does TV removal for homes and rentals in Johnstown and the towns around it in Northern Colorado. A TV is an awkward piece to move. A tube set weighs more than it looks, and a flat screen can crack if it's grabbed by the wrong edge. The call often comes right after an upgrade, when the old set has nowhere to go.

From Johnstown in Weld County, the same TV pickup reaches Windsor, Greeley, Fort Collins, Loveland, Longmont and the other Northern Colorado towns they cover. A set in a Loveland condo gets the same carry-out as one in a Johnstown basement.

The old set usually has company. The stand or entertainment center under it can leave at the same time, though a big wall unit on its own is really a furniture removal job. When the pile is mostly old computers and cords with a screen or two in it, electronic waste removal is the closer match.

What goes on the truck

  • Old tube TVs
  • Flat screens with cracked panels
  • Rear-projection big-screen sets
  • TV stands and entertainment centers
  • Remotes and DVD players
  • Game consoles and speakers
  • Cables and cords
  • Boxes and packing foam

These are the usual pieces on this kind of job, not the whole list.

The full list of what goes on the truck, and what doesn't.

Who hauls away an old TV from a house or rental?

Liberty Junk Removal does, and a single set is enough to book the trip. It might be a deep tube TV in the basement den or a flat screen with a cracked panel. Sometimes it's a few old sets that piled up in a spare room. The big rear-projection cabinet that hasn't been switched on since the flat screen arrived gets walked out of its room and loaded onto a pickup with a 6x12 open trailer or a 7x14 dump trailer, with the Liberty Junk Removal logo on the truck doors.

Property managers turning over a unit call about the set left behind after move-out, and offices call when the break room TV gets replaced.

How much does it cost to get rid of an old TV?

A TV pickup carries the same $125 minimum as any other job. Beyond it, what you pay depends on the space the TV and everything going with it take up on the truck. A lone flat screen and a pair of console sets with a wall unit can come out to very different numbers. The price takes in the carrying, the drive and the disposal, so no dump fee gets added later.

A photo of the set is usually enough for a quote, so put the stand and the second TV from the guest room in the picture too. The Johnstown junk removal cost guide walks through how the price gets set.

How does a heavy TV get out of a basement or upstairs room?

Liberty Junk Removal does the carrying. A tube TV on a basement shelf comes up the stairs, and a flat screen in an upstairs bedroom comes down them. The deep tube sets and rear-projection cabinets are the heavy ones, and they leave the house the same way. You don't lift anything or help load, and the set can stay on its shelf until they get there.

Narrow basement stairs and a tight turn at the landing are normal on a TV job, and getting the set past them is part of what the quote covers. If the set is tucked into a built-in cabinet or a back corner of the den, a second photo from the doorway helps show the way out.

Where does an old TV go after it's hauled away?

Every TV goes out as e-waste, the deep tube set the same as the newest flat screen. The things around it follow along. The remotes, an old DVD player or VCR, a game console and the speakers from that shelf all count as electronics, so they leave the same way as the set.

The furniture gets sorted on its own. A solid stand or entertainment center in good shape goes to donation first, at Habitat for Humanity or a thrift store. A particle-board stand that's coming apart goes to the landfill, and the box and foam from the new TV can go with it if you want those gone too. If the stand is still sturdy, say so when you send the photo.

Will Liberty Junk Removal take paint or chemicals with the TV?

Paint, yes. A TV job follows the same rule as every other job, so paint can go (empty cans preferred, full cans cost extra), while gasoline, diesel and medical or biohazard waste don't. Another hazardous item can go for an extra fee, but ask before you book. In a garage, the old set often shares a shelf with leftover paint cans and bottles of cleaner, and the cleaner is the one to ask about.

Keep any gas can out of the photo, since it stays. If you're not sure whether a bottle on that shelf counts as a chemical, ask in a text before the job is booked.

How the price works

Text a photo of what needs to go to (970) 634-6969. Liberty Junk Removal looks at how much room it takes on the truck and texts back a quote for the whole job. The quote holds unless the job turns out bigger than the photo showed. No hourly rate. Jobs start at $125. Read the junk removal cost guide.

Where Liberty Junk Removal does this

All of the Northern Colorado area. In Fort Collins, as everywhere in Colorado, it is illegal to throw electronic items such as TVs in the trash. The landfill used for Longmont drop days does not take tires, televisions, computers or other electronics. See every town Liberty Junk Removal covers for TV removal.

Questions

Questions about TV removal.

What's the minimum charge to remove one TV?
$125, even when the TV is the only thing on the list.
Can an old TV be picked up the same day?
Same day when the schedule allows. When today is full, it's usually the next day, and hours run 7 AM to 6 PM all week.
Does Liberty Junk Removal take old tube TVs?
Yes, and an old console set in a wooden cabinet counts too.
Can a property manager book a TV pickup at a rental?
Yes. The manager texts a photo of what the tenant left and gets a message when the set is out of the unit.
How can I pay for an old TV pickup?
Venmo and Zelle work, and so do Apple Pay, Google Pay, cash, a check or a credit or debit card. A bigger company can settle up by invoice.
Can other electronics go on the same trip as the TV?
Yes. A game console or an old laptop can ride with the TV, and the quote covers all of it.
