Furniture donation pickup is for the couch or dresser that still has plenty of life in it when you don't have a way to move it. Liberty Junk Removal runs this pickup in Johnstown and around Northern Colorado. They load the piece and take it to donation first, at Habitat for Humanity or a thrift store.

A donation pile often has a few pieces that won't make it. A bedroom set might come with a solid frame and a nightstand that wobbles, or a garage might hold a good bookshelf next to a broken patio chair. The good pieces are set aside for donation, and the wobbly nightstand and the broken chair ride along, so nothing is left sitting on your driveway afterward.

When every piece is worn out and nobody would want it, book furniture removal instead. If even one piece in the pile is good, that piece still goes to donation first. Greeley, Longmont and the other Northern Colorado towns Liberty Junk Removal covers get this pickup too. The business is based in Johnstown in Weld County and has been around since 2025. Donation pickup and trash removal both fall under garbage collection.

What goes on the truck

  • Couches and loveseats
  • Dressers and nightstands
  • Dining tables and chairs
  • Bed frames and headboards
  • Desks and bookcases
  • Recliners and armchairs
  • Entertainment centers
  • Patio furniture sets

These are the usual pieces on this kind of job, not the whole list.

The full list of what goes on the truck, and what doesn't.

What kind of furniture goes on a donation pickup?

Furniture that still has use in it. That might be a sofa and loveseat pushed out by a new set, or a dining table with every chair. A home office turning back into a bedroom gives up a desk and a bookcase, and a kids' room hands over the bunk beds nobody fits in anymore. Patio sets belong in the same pile.

People book it when they're downsizing or getting ready to move. Families clearing out a parent's house call too, and once more than the furniture is leaving, that's an estate cleanout. Managers have their own version, like a furnished rental emptied between tenants or an office swapping out its chairs. Even on an eviction and rental property cleanout, good furniture gets donated when it can be.

What can't go on a furniture donation pickup?

Gasoline, diesel and medical or biohazard waste never go on the truck. With furniture headed for donation, they usually come along by accident. A gas can gets parked behind the hutch, and used medical supplies end up in dresser drawers. Look through the drawers and cabinet doors before you take the photo. A can of stain that matched the dining table or a cleaning spray costs an extra fee, so ask first.

Once the drawers are clear, the hutch and the dresser go out with the rest of the donations. Ordinary odds and ends left inside, like a few pens or a stray sock, can ride along. For anything you're not sure about, ask in the same text as the photo.

Do I have to bring furniture to the curb for a donation pickup?

No. The sleeper sofa can stay in the basement and the armoire can stay upstairs until it's time to load. Stairs and a narrow hallway are Liberty Junk Removal's problem to work out. A donation run usually means borrowing a truck and a strong friend for a Saturday, and this way the furniture leaves the house without either one.

When you're keeping some of the furniture, mark what's going. A strip of painter's tape on each piece works, or a quick walk-through when the truck pulls up. It matters most on a move or an estate, where the keepers and the donations sit side by side in the same rooms.

Where does furniture go after a donation pickup?

Donation comes first, at Habitat for Humanity and thrift stores, and Liberty Junk Removal makes those drop-offs. Pieces that don't make it there still get sorted instead of left behind. Scrap metal, like a rusted patio set or a bent metal bunk bed, gets recycled. Real trash, like a bookshelf that came apart in the move, goes to the landfill.

Electronics take their own route. A TV on the dresser in the guest room goes out as e-waste, and so does the old stereo on the bookshelf. Mention them in the text with the photo so they're counted in the load and nobody is surprised on pickup day.

How much does a furniture donation pickup cost?

A donation pickup has a $125 minimum. Above it, the price is set by how much room the load takes on the truck, so a single armchair and a full bedroom set land in very different places. Loading and hauling are inside the price, and so is disposal for whatever can't be donated. There's no separate line for dump fees.

The quote usually comes from a photo of the pile, so get the good pieces and the broken ones in the same shot. For a whole house of furniture, an in-person look can replace the photo, since one picture won't show every room. Payment can be cash, a check, a card, Venmo, Zelle, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and bigger companies can get an invoice.

How the price works

Text a photo of what needs to go to (970) 634-6969. Liberty Junk Removal looks at how much room it takes on the truck and texts back a quote for the whole job. The quote holds unless the job turns out bigger than the photo showed. No hourly rate. Jobs start at $125. Read the junk removal cost guide.

Questions

Questions about furniture donation pickup.

Can I book a donation pickup for just one piece of furniture?
Yes. Text a photo to (970) 634-6969 of the one dresser or the one good couch. A single piece is a job on its own, starting at the $125 minimum.
Can broken furniture go on the same load as the donations?
Yes, and nobody has to sort it first.
How soon can a furniture donation pickup happen?
Usually the next day for a donation pickup, and same day when the schedule allows. You get a one-hour arrival window and an ETA, any day from 7 AM to 6 PM.
Does Liberty Junk Removal pick up donation furniture outside Johnstown?
Yes. A dresser in Fort Collins or a sofa in Windsor gets the same trip to a thrift store or Habitat for Humanity as one in Johnstown.
Does a piece that can't be donated cost extra?
Where a piece ends up doesn't move it. Disposal is already inside the quote, so a dresser that goes to the landfill costs the same as one that gets donated.
