Liberty Junk Removal does refrigerator & freezer removal around Johnstown and the rest of Northern Colorado. A fridge is an awkward thing to move, and it's usually squeezed between cabinets with an inch to spare. The call tends to come when a new one is on order and the old one is still humming in the kitchen.

A lot of people expect to have the old fridge waiting at the curb, or to grab one end of it on the way down the driveway. Neither one is needed. Liberty Junk Removal does the carrying and the loading, and you just show them which fridge is leaving. Take the photo of it in its spot now, with the cabinets or the stairs in view.

What goes on the truck

  • Full-size kitchen fridges
  • Side-by-side refrigerators
  • Spare garage fridges
  • Chest freezers
  • Upright freezers
  • Mini fridges
  • Fridges left in rentals
  • Freezers stuck in basements

These are the usual pieces on this kind of job, not the whole list.

The full list of what goes on the truck, and what doesn't.

Will a junk removal company take an old refrigerator?

Yes. Fridges and freezers are regular pickups for Liberty Junk Removal, from the side-by-side in the kitchen to the garage spare that only holds drinks and the mini fridge from a home bar. The load is usually short. It's the unit plus whatever got stacked on or beside it over the years, like coolers on a chest freezer lid.

Refrigerator & freezer removal is its own service, apart from appliance removal and disposal, and a fridge does move differently. The weight sits high, and the doors want to swing open on the way out. A washer or range can go on the same load.

How do you get a refrigerator out of a basement?

Liberty Junk Removal brings it up the stairs, with nobody in the house helping. A basement fridge often went down there years ago, sometimes before a railing went in, so the way out can be tighter than the way in was. They size that up from your photo.

On pickup day you get a one-hour arrival window with an ETA, so you know when to have the basement door unlocked or the garage open. At a rental, the tenant who answers the door will see a pickup with a 6x12 open trailer or a 7x14 dump trailer, with the Liberty Junk Removal logo on the truck doors.

Where does an old fridge go after it's hauled away?

A fridge that's done for still has plenty of metal in it, and that scrap gets recycled. The coolers and boxes that come off the top of a garage freezer go through the same sort, with donation first and the real trash to the landfill.

A fridge that still keeps food cold can have plenty of life in it, even a spare that has lived in the garage for years. Mention that it works when you text the photo, so it's offered for donation first.

Are dump fees extra when a fridge gets hauled away?

No. There's no separate charge for the dump. The quote includes the carrying, the drive and the disposal, and it's set by the room the load takes up on the truck. A single fridge takes less room than a fridge, a chest freezer and the shelving around them, and the quote moves with that. The minimum is $125.

Text a photo to (970) 634-6969 that shows everything leaving, including a second freezer behind the garage door. The quote comes from that picture, or from an in-person look if a photo can't show the whole job. The Johnstown pricing guide has more on how a load gets priced by truck space.

Can the paint cans in the garage go with the old freezer?

Yes. Paint can ride on the truck with the freezer that's leaving. Empty cans are preferred, and full ones cost an extra fee. Fuel and medical or biohazard waste stay behind. The garage freezer is where this comes up, since the shelf above it is where leftover paint, bug spray and a jug of antifreeze end up. The antifreeze can go too. Bug spray carries an extra fee, so ask before the day.

Take any gas or diesel can off the freezer before the truck comes. Everything else that piled up around it can go, like the broken wire shelving and the boxes nobody has opened since the move. If the freezer is only the start and the whole garage needs clearing, that's a house and garage cleanout.

Does Liberty Junk Removal pick up fridges outside Johnstown?

Yes. From Johnstown, in Weld County, fridge pickups reach Fort Collins, Loveland, Longmont, Berthoud, Wellington and Fort Lupton. A chest freezer in a Greeley basement comes up the stairs just like one in town, and every Northern Colorado town on the route is on one list.

When the new fridge has a delivery date, book the old one's pickup around it, so the gap between the cabinets is empty when the delivery truck backs in.

How the price works

Text a photo of what needs to go to (970) 634-6969. Liberty Junk Removal looks at how much room it takes on the truck and texts back a quote for the whole job. The quote holds unless the job turns out bigger than the photo showed. No hourly rate. Jobs start at $125. Read the junk removal cost guide.

Where Liberty Junk Removal does this

All of the Northern Colorado area. If a fridge has to sit outside before pickup, Broomfield asks owners to remove or secure the doors so children cannot get trapped. Firestone's disposal guide says state law requires the Freon in throwaway appliances to be removed by a licensed company before recycling or disposal. In Lafayette, for anything that held freon, the city tells residents to contact the Center for Hard-to-Recycle Materials. Questions

Questions about refrigerator and freezer removal.

How much does fridge removal cost?
$125 is the floor. Past that, a fridge or freezer is priced like any other load, by the space it fills on the truck.
Do I have to help carry the freezer out?
No. Leave the freezer in its corner until Liberty Junk Removal gets there.
Can an old washer or stove go on the same pickup?
Yes. Put it in the photo next to the fridge, so the quote counts it too.
Does a working fridge get donated?
Yes, when it can. Donation comes first for a fridge or freezer that runs, through Habitat for Humanity or a thrift store.
What would change the fridge quote?
A job bigger than the photo showed. If your photo only has the kitchen fridge and a chest freezer in the basement is going too, that second unit changes the quote.
Can a property manager set up fridge removal at a rental?
Yes. The manager can send the photo and book the pickup from off site. A bigger company can pay by invoice.
