Liberty Junk Removal handles mattress removal & disposal in Johnstown and out across Northern Colorado. Often it's a queen or a king that just got replaced, along with the box spring that sat under it. A mattress is more awkward than heavy. It folds in the middle when one person tries to carry it, and a queen won't fit in most cars. That's why the old one tends to lean in the hallway for weeks after the new bed shows up.

Property managers call about the bed a tenant left behind in an empty unit. Families call when the guest room has to be ready before company comes, or when a grown kid's room still has the twin from high school in it. If the dresser and nightstands are going too, that part is furniture removal, and it can leave on the same trip as the mattress.

The photo doesn't need to be careful. One shot from the bedroom doorway shows the size of the mattress and whether a box spring and frame are part of the job. A second mattress in the basement can go in the same text, and it all gets quoted together. Nobody needs to pull the mattress off the frame or stand it on end for the picture.

What goes on the truck

  • Twin through king mattresses
  • Box springs and foundations
  • Metal bed frames
  • Wood beds and headboards
  • Bunk beds and their mattresses
  • Crib and futon mattresses
  • Mattress toppers and pads
  • Memory foam mattresses

These are the usual pieces on this kind of job, not the whole list.

From the full list of what goes on the truck: appliances, mattresses and heavy items.

Can the box spring and bed frame go with the mattress?

Yes. A bed usually leaves all at once, so the box spring or foundation goes along with the mattress, and so does the frame, whether that's a set of metal rails or a wood bed with a tall headboard. Toppers and mattress pads usually end up in the same pile, and memory foam goes the same as any other mattress. A bunk bed can go with both of its mattresses, and so can a crib mattress the baby outgrew.

How do you get a king mattress down the stairs?

Liberty Junk Removal carries it down. A king in an upstairs bedroom comes down the staircase and out the front door, and one in a basement bedroom comes up the steps the same way. You don't have to wrestle it to the landing or lean it by the garage ahead of time. It can stay on the frame until the job starts.

A tight turn or a low ceiling at the landing is worth a line in your text, so the carry down is planned before the truck arrives.

Where does an old mattress go after it's hauled away?

The bed gets split up by what each piece can still do. A solid wood headboard or frame heads to donation first, at Habitat for Humanity or a thrift store. Metal rails and a steel bunk frame are scrap, and scrap metal gets recycled. The mattress itself, sagging in the middle or torn at a seam, goes to the landfill with a broken box spring.

When more of the bedroom leaves on the same trip, it gets sorted by the same rule. A nightstand with all its drawers, or a dresser with years left in it, can still go to donation. A cracked mirror, a bag of flat pillows and a lamp shade with a hole in it go with the trash.

Will you take the paint and cleaning chemicals from the bedroom closet?

Paint can go on a mattress job, with empty cans preferred and an extra fee on full ones. Cleaning chemicals carry an extra fee and need a heads-up first. Medical or biohazard waste is left behind. This comes up when the whole bedroom is being cleared, closet included. There's often a gallon of wall paint from the last touch-up on the top shelf, or a caddy of cleaning sprays on the floor. If the bed belonged to someone on home care, look for used needles or leftover medical supplies in the nightstand. Set the medical items aside before the pickup, and name the sprays in your text, so nothing gets packed in with the bedding by mistake.

How much does mattress removal cost?

Mattress jobs start at the $125 minimum. Above that, it depends on how much space the bed takes on the truck. A twin mattress on its own takes little room, and a king with its box spring, a wood headboard and two nightstands needs a lot more. Carrying it all out, the haul and disposal are part of that price, and there's no separate dump fee added after.

Do you pick up mattresses outside Johnstown?

Yes. Home base is Johnstown, in Weld County, and mattress pickups go out all over Northern Colorado. That means bigger towns like Greeley and Fort Collins, and smaller ones like Severance, Milliken and Lochbuie. Every town on the list of Northern Colorado service areas gets the same hours, 7 AM to 6 PM, every day of the week. Saturday and Sunday are on that schedule, which helps when the new mattress is set to arrive on a weekend.

How the price works

Text a photo of what needs to go to (970) 634-6969. Liberty Junk Removal looks at how much room it takes on the truck and texts back a quote for the whole job. The quote holds unless the job turns out bigger than the photo showed. No hourly rate. Jobs start at $125. Read the junk removal cost guide.

Where Liberty Junk Removal does this

All of the Northern Colorado area. The 2026 Fall Clean-Up Days drop-off in Windsor could not accept mattresses or large furniture. Twice-yearly cleanup events in Erie are one place residents can dispose of mattresses, alongside tires and electronics. See every town Liberty Junk Removal covers for mattress removal and disposal.

Questions

Questions about mattress removal and disposal.

Is there a minimum charge to haul away one mattress?
Yes. The $125 minimum applies to a single mattress too, and the photo shows whether the job runs past it.
Do I need to drag the mattress outside before pickup?
No. Leave it where it is. Nobody in the house has to help carry it out.
How soon can an old mattress be picked up?
Pickup for a mattress is usually the next day, or same day when the schedule allows.
Can a property manager book mattress pickup for a rental unit?
Yes. Send a photo of what the last tenant left and you'll get a quote for the whole load. A bigger management company can pay by invoice.
Will Liberty Junk Removal take a mattress that's sagging or ripped?
Yes. A spring poking through or a long tear in the cover doesn't stop it from going.
