Berthoud prohibits an accumulation of junk on a property unless it is screened from public view. That leaves the pile along the side fence with two ways to go. Somebody builds a screen around it, or it leaves. Liberty Junk Removal handles the leaving, from the old water heater behind the garage to the broken patio set by the trash cans. Cars have a rule of their own. On private property, the Town also requires inoperable vehicles to be screened from public view by a fence or structure built to the Town code. The junk heaped around a car that doesn't run can go on the truck, even if the car stays.

Then there are the tree limbs. The Town's forestry FAQ says it does not pick up tree limbs from private property, and for limbs and yard waste it lists the City of Loveland Recycle Center as a place to take them. The same FAQ points residents to the Larimer County Landfill as well. Since August 3, 2026, Larimer County takes those drop-offs at its Central Diversion and Transfer Station. Hauling the limbs yourself, wherever they go, starts with loading them into your own vehicle. Yard debris removal skips that step, since the branches go from the yard straight onto the truck.

Both piles can leave on the same Berthoud pickup. The limbs out back and the junk by the garage ride together, and once they're gone the side fence has nothing left to hide. Anything still sound, like a sturdy workbench or a set of patio chairs, goes to Habitat for Humanity or a thrift store first. Bent metal shelving and an old grill are scrap, and scrap metal gets recycled. Bagged leaves from the fall can ride along too. You walk the yard once and point things out, and the loading is theirs from there.

Questions

Questions about junk removal in Berthoud.

Will Berthoud's street sweepers pick up my leaves and branches?
No. The Town says its street sweepers cannot pick up branches or large piles of leaves, and piles of leaves that homeowners make will not be picked up either. Rake them into bags or leave them in a heap next to the branches. Liberty Junk Removal loads both off the lawn and takes them away.
What does junk removal in Berthoud cost?
The minimum is $125. Past that, the price depends on how much room the limbs and the junk take up on the truck, with the loading, the haul and the dump fees already in it. The guide to what a load costs goes further.
How soon can Liberty Junk Removal get to a job in Berthoud?
A Berthoud job is usually the next day, or same day when the schedule allows. They come over from Johnstown daily, 7 AM to 6 PM, and you get a one-hour arrival window with an ETA.
What won't Liberty Junk Removal haul out of a Berthoud home?
Gas, diesel, and medical or biohazard waste all get left behind. Leftover paint is fine. Expect an extra fee for full cans. For household hazardous items, Larimer County's hazardous waste page tells residents to bring them to the Larimer County Hazardous Waste facility. Everything that can go is laid out on the list of what goes on the truck.
