Liberty Junk Removal does interior demolition in Johnstown and the rest of Northern Colorado. On this kind of job, the pile is the room itself. The paneling, the trim, the closet doors and the drywall behind them all come out and leave on the truck, often right before a basement or a spare bedroom gets remodeled.
If a contractor already did the tear-out and left a pile in the garage, only the haul is left, and that's construction debris removal. Kitchens and bathrooms go by their own names, kitchen demolition and bathroom demolition. Interior demolition covers the rest of the house, like a basement finished decades ago or a bedroom with a wall of tired built-ins. All three are part of their demolition contractor work.
A room that's already half torn apart still counts. If you pulled the paneling off one wall and ran out of weekend, the rest of the paneling and the trim come out next, and the pieces already on the floor leave with them. Liberty Junk Removal works out of Johnstown and takes these jobs in the Northern Colorado towns they serve, Longmont, Loveland, Evans and Firestone among them.
What goes on the truck
- Closet shelving and rods
- Drywall and paneling
- Cabinets and built-in shelving
- Interior doors and trim
- Torn-up vinyl and laminate
- Dropped ceiling tiles and grid
- Steel shelving and metal door frames
These are the usual pieces on this kind of job, not the whole list.
From the full list of what goes on the truck: demolition and structures.
What comes out of a room during interior demolition?
Whatever won't be part of the finished room. In an older basement that often means the dropped ceiling, tiles and grid both, along with the paneled walls. Built-in bookcases come apart and load in pieces.
The line is yours to draw. A door you plan to rehang, or trim you want to save, stays in place once you point it out. On a rental, the job follows the manager's list. Check anything you're unsure about against the demolition debris and old structures list before you text.
Do you need interior demolition or just a cleanout?
It depends on whether the room is staying. If only the stuff inside has to go, that's a basement cleanout or one of the other cleanouts. If the walls and the floor are coming out too, it's interior demolition. A basement that needs both can get both at once, the boxes and the old couch first and then the paneling and trim, quoted as a single job.
If that's the plan, say so when you text, and send photos that show the clutter and the walls behind it. Decide ahead of time which furniture is leaving and which is moving upstairs to wait out the remodel, so nothing you want ends up on the trailer.
Can old paint cans go out with the demolition debris?
Yes. Paint goes on the truck, even when it turns up halfway through a tear-out, with empty cans preferred and an extra fee on full ones. A gallon of old wall paint on a basement shelf counts. The cleaners under a wet bar sink are a separate question, and they can go for an extra fee after you check first. Gas, diesel and medical or biohazard waste are refused as well, whichever room they're in.
Carry any fuel out of the room before the job, so it's never in the photos or the pile. Something can still turn up, like a can of adhesive tucked behind a panel. That gets set aside for you, and the tear-out keeps going.
What sets the price of an interior demolition job?
How much room the torn-out material takes on the truck, with $125 as the minimum. Loading, hauling and disposal are inside the price, so a dump fee never shows up as its own line. The quote comes from your photos or an in-person look at the room.
For a tear-out, wide shots tell more than close-ups. Stand in the doorway and get the whole room, then shoot the closet too if it's coming out. Tilt the phone up if the ceiling is part of the job. For a big basement, take one from each corner.
Where does the debris from an interior demolition go?
Donation gets the first pick of anything still usable. On a tear-out, that might be a solid interior door that comes off its hinges clean, or a built-in cabinet that comes off the wall in one piece. Those head to Habitat for Humanity or a thrift store before anything goes near the landfill.
Metal from the room is scrap, like steel shelving from a storage corner or a metal door frame, and scrap metal gets recycled. Speakers pulled out of a basement wall are handled differently. They go out as e-waste, the same as a mounted TV that comes down with the drywall.
The landfill takes the rest. That's the broken drywall, the splintered paneling and the old ceiling tiles.
Do you have to carry demolition debris to the curb?
No. The debris goes straight from the room to the trailer. A basement tear-out comes up the stairs a load at a time, and an upstairs bedroom comes down the same way, so nothing gets piled at the curb first. If a side door is closer to the driveway, mention it, since that's the shorter walk.
A unit turn for a property manager runs the same way. You get a reply to the text, a quote from the photo or a walk-through, a booked time and updates until arrival. When the room is empty, you hear that it's finished.
