Liberty Junk Removal does light demolition in Johnstown and across Northern Colorado. It's for something small that's still screwed or bolted in place and has to come apart before it can go anywhere, like the garage shelving a past owner anchored into the studs or a backyard playset that has rotted where it stands. Maybe it sits right where the new workbench is supposed to go, or a rental needs a small tear-out before the next tenant moves in.

Plain junk removal starts with things that are already loose, like a couch that only needs carrying. Light demolition has one more step at the front, because the shelving or the cabinet is still attached when the truck pulls up. Liberty Junk Removal takes it apart and breaks it into pieces that fit through the door, so you don't need a drill or a pry bar before they get there. Everything that comes down counts as demolition debris and leaves with them. The bigger tear-outs are listed under demolition contractor work.

What goes on the truck

  • Boards and panels from a take-down
  • Old shelving screwed to a wall
  • Laundry room cabinets
  • A rotted backyard playset
  • Brackets, screws and scrap metal
  • Old metal frames
  • A wall-mounted TV and its bracket

These are the usual pieces on this kind of job, not the whole list.

From the full list of what goes on the truck: demolition and structures.

What does light demolition cover?

A whole deck or a long run of fence is deck and fence demolition, and an old backyard shed is shed removal. Gutting a kitchen falls under kitchen demolition, and a full bathroom is bathroom demolition. Light demolition is the smaller stuff that still has to be unfastened first, like a row of laundry room cabinets. When it's already on the ground in pieces, you want debris removal.

A small tear-out leaves mostly lumber and particleboard, with screws, brackets and bits of metal mixed through it. The long pieces, like the beams of an old playset, get broken down so they lie flat for the ride. All of it goes out on a pickup with a 6x12 open trailer or a 7x14 dump trailer, with the Liberty Junk Removal logo on the truck doors.

How is a light demolition job priced?

The minimum is $125. Past that, the price follows how much room the pieces take on the truck once they're down, and the taking apart is part of what it covers. Loading, hauling and disposal are inside it too, so dump fees never turn up as a separate charge.

For a photo quote, take the picture with the piece still up. Step back far enough to get the whole thing and the wall or the patch of yard around it, so the mounting shows. If there are a few small things, like the shelves in the garage and the cabinet over the dryer, send a shot of each so nothing gets left out of the quote.

Can leftover paint and chemicals go out with the demolition debris?

Paint can go, with empty cans preferred and an extra fee on full ones, and taking down old shelving is exactly when it shows up. The half-used cans of stain on the top shelf and the jugs of cleaner under the laundry room cabinets come into view as soon as the shelves start to empty. Stain and cleaner are ask-first items. Gasoline and diesel are refused, and so is medical or biohazard waste. Anything else hazardous can go for an extra fee once you've asked.

Mention the stain cans and cleaner jugs in your text, so the extra fee is settled before the job. The boards and the metal from the tear-out still leave as planned. If you aren't sure what's in an old can, ask before the day of the job.

Where does the debris from light demolition end up?

It gets sorted. A cabinet that comes off the wall in one piece and still has use in it goes to Habitat for Humanity or a thrift store first. Metal brackets, shelf standards and an old steel frame go with the scrap metal, which gets recycled. Broken boards and splintered particleboard can only go to the landfill. A wall-mounted TV that comes down with the shelving goes out as e-waste, while its bracket rides with the scrap.

Do I have to help tear it down or load the truck?

No to both. Liberty Junk Removal takes it apart and carries the pieces out through the side gate or up the basement stairs. Nothing has to be stacked in the driveway ahead of time. The playset can stay in the back corner of the yard right up until they get there.

Your part is deciding what comes down and what stays. If one of the garage shelves is staying, or there's a cabinet you'd like to reuse, say so in the text or point it out when they arrive. On the day, a one-hour arrival window with an ETA tells you when to expect them.

Who does light demolition near Johnstown?

Liberty Junk Removal does, out of Johnstown in Weld County. The owner started the business in 2025. The truck also covers the other Northern Colorado towns they serve. A playset in Loveland or garage shelving in Greeley gets the same take-apart and haul as one in Johnstown.

Liberty Junk Removal works daily from 7 AM to 6 PM, so a Saturday or Sunday tear-out is on the table.

How the price works

Text a photo of what needs to go to (970) 634-6969. Liberty Junk Removal looks at how much room it takes on the truck and texts back a quote for the whole job. The quote holds unless the job turns out bigger than the photo showed. No hourly rate. Jobs start at $125. Read the junk removal cost guide.

How much does light demolition cost?
It starts at $125, and a bigger take-down costs more.

Yes, when it's one of the bigger companies. Everyone else can pay with cash, a credit or debit card, a check, Venmo, Zelle, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
How soon can a light demolition job get done?
Usually the next day. Same day when the schedule allows, so it's worth asking when you send the photo.
